The subway as a museum: Two new metro stations in the heart of Rome
After years of waiting, two new subway stations have been completed in the historic heart of Rome. The Colosseo/Fori Imperiali and Porta Metronia stations—located at the world-famous Colosseum and Imperial Forums, as well as the ancient Porta Metronia city gate—are designed as so-called museum stations. They display the archaeological finds that were discovered during the construction of the underground stations.
