US Midterms 2026: Voters Decide Control of Congress
In the US midterm elections on 3 November 2026, millions of Americans are deciding which party will control Congress: all 435 House seats and 35 of the 100 Senate seats are up for election. President Donald Trump's Republicans hold a narrow majority, while polls point to possible Democratic gains in the House. Polling stations open in stages across several time zones, and millions of votes were already cast by mail or in person beforehand. Because counting rules vary from state to state, it may take days before the majorities in both chambers are known.
