Weimar Republic - The Kapp-Putsch 1920
The Kapp Putsch was a right-wing radical coup attempt under Wolfgang Kapp and General W. Freiherr von Lüttwitz that lasted from March 13 to 17, 1920. It was the first attack against the young German democracy. The coup, which was triggered by the dissolution order for the Ehrhardt Brigade, forced the Reich government to flee to Dresden and Stuttgart. It failed, however, because of the firm attitude of the population, which responded to the unions' call for a general strike.
