WWI - Colonies and colonial soldiers
The German colonies in Africa, Asia and the Pacific were also theaters of war in the First World War and most of them were very quickly taken by the Entente troops. Only in German East Africa did the German Schutztruppe, which consisted mainly of African Askari, fight under General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck until the end of the war. - Soldiers were also recruited in the colonies to support the British and French troops on the front in Europe, among others.
