WW1 - End of War Nov. 11, 1918
On November 11, 1918, Reichstag deputy Matthias Erzberger signed the Allies' armistice terms in a railroad carriage in the forest of Compiègne, not far from Paris. For the German Reich, this amounted to an unconditional surrender with far-reaching territorial and financial consequences, while the end of the war was greeted with great jubilation by the populations of the Allied states.
