WKI - Battle of the Marne 1914

The Battle of the Marne in the First World War took place from September 5 to 12, 1914. The German advance towards Paris was successfully halted by the French after hundreds of French soldiers were brought to the front by Parisian cabs and buses for reinforcement. The battle ended in a strategic stalemate and the war developed into a protracted war of position.
