WWI - Schlacht bei Arras 1917
During the Battle of Arras on the Western Front (9.04. - 16.05.1917), Allied troops, including Canadians, British and New Zealanders, attacked the German defensive positions. They succeeded in capturing a strategic ridge near Vimy, but the overall situation on the Western Front remained deadlocked. The battle for Vimy went down in Canadian history as the "Battle of Vimy Ridge".
