WWII - Campaign in the west (Battle of France) 1940
In 1940, as part of the Western Campaign (May 10-28), the German Wehrmacht conquered the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg within a few weeks. On June 5, the large-scale attack on France began. On June 14, German troops marched into Paris. On June 22, the French army signed the armistice treaty in the clearing of Compiègne in the railroad carriage where Germany signed the surrender at the end of World War 1. France was divided into a northern and western part under German military administration (Zone Occupée) and an unoccupied southern part (Zone Libre).
