2022-05-30 - Vor 20 Jahren: Trümmerräumung am Ground Zero beendet
Am Ground Zero in New York wurden am 30. Mai 2002 die Bergungs- und Aufräumarbeiten 262 Tage nach dem Einsturz des World-Trade-Centers mit einer Zeremonie offiziell beendet. Als Symbol für die fast 1000 Menschen, die nach dem Terroranschlag vom 11. September 2001 nicht geborgen werden konnten, trugen Feuerwehrmänner, Polizisten und Bauarbeiter eine letzte mit der US-Flagge bedeckte Totenbahre über eine Rampe vom Ground Zero hinauf. Auch der letzte Stahlträger, der von einem der Türme des World Trade Centers stammte, wird mit einer Flagge bedeckt vom Ground Zero gefahren.
