Am 08. August 1963 überfiel eine Bande um Bruce Reynolds und Ronald Biggs einen Postzug der britischen Royal Mail nahe Mentmore und erbeutete rund 2,6 Mio. Pfund Sterling. Der spektakuläre Raub sorgte für großes mediales Interesse, bald waren 12 Bandenmitglieder gefasst, wobei Biggs und Charlie Wilson später aus dem Gefängnis ausbrechen konnten.
