2024-01-03 - Vor 65 Jahren - Alaska wird 49. US-Bundesstaat

Am 03.01.1959 wurde Alaska als 49. Bundesstaat in die USA aufgenommen. Die zuvor auch als Russisch-Amerika bekannte Region erwarb die USA von Russland im Jahre 1867 für die damalige Summe von 7,2 Mio. Dollar. Mit der Unterzeichnung des sogenannten Alaska Statehood Act durch US-Präsident Dwight D. Eisenhower am 07.07.1958 war der Weg frei für die Angliederung an die USA.
