Captain Tom stirbt an Covid-19

Der 100 Jahre alte britische Rekordspendensammler Sir Tom Moore ist tot. Das teilten seine Töchter mit. Er hatte sich zuvor mit dem Coronavirus infiziert. Wegen Medikamenten, die er zur Behandlung einer Lungenentzündung erhalten hatte, war Moore nicht gegen Covid-19 geimpft worden. Der Veteran aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg hatte im vergangenen Jahr mit einem Spendenlauf umgerechnet etwa 37 Millionen Euro für den Nationalen Gesundheitsdienst NHS in der Corona-Pandemie gesammelt und hatte damit weltweite Berühmtheit erlangt.
