Fracking in den USA

Die Förderung von Erdöl und Erdgas durch Fracking ist umstritten - auch wegen Folgen für die Umwelt. Mit Fracking (Hydraulic Fracturing) wird vor allem in Pennsylvania, im Nordosten der USA, die Öl- und Gasförderung vorangetrieben. Dabei wird unter hohem Druck eine Flüssigkeit in den Boden gepresst, um das Gestein durchlässiger zu machen und Öl sowie Gas fördern zu können. Kritiker warnen, dass dabei das Grundwasser gefährdet wird. Nun haben Wissenschaftler in der Umgebung von Fracking-Bohrlöchern in den USA erhöhte Werte von radioaktiven Partikeln festgestellt.
