Brooklyn Bridge New York

Die Brooklyn Bridge in New York verbindet die Stadtteile Manhattan und Brooklyn gehört zu den berühmtesten Hängebrücken der Welt. Am 03.01.1870 begannen mit der Vorbereitung für die Fundamente der Türme die Bauarbeiten. Konstruiert wurde die 1054 Meter lange Brücke, die zunächst "East River Bridge" hieß von dem deutschen Ingenieur John (Johann) August Roebling. Am 24.05.1883 wurde die Brücke eröffnet und ist heute nicht nur ein wichtiger Bestandteil der New Yorker Verkehrsinfrastruktur sondern Touristenmagnet und Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Auch heute ist ein Gang über die Brooklyn Bridge beeindruckend und ein fester Bestandteil eines New York-Aufenthaltes. Auf dem höher gelegenen Gehweg überquert man den East River und kann die beeindruckende Skyline von Manhattan bewundern.
