Blick in die Zukunft : Weltausstellung New York 1939/1940

Rauchender Roboter, Fernseh-Start, stromlinienförmige Loks und eine Zeitkapsel: Unter dem Motto "The World of Tomorrow - all Eyes to the Future" wurde 1939 in New York die Weltausstellung eröffnet. In der Mitte des Ausstellungsgeländes in Flushing Meadows standen als Wahrzeichen ein spitzer Obelisk und eine riesige weiﬂe Kugel: Trylon und Perisphere. Besonders die zahlreichen Automobil- und Elektrokonzerne konnten in den zwei Jahren mit ihren Präsentationen die rund 50 Millionen Besucher begeistern. Die Ausstellung fand vom 30. April bis 31. Oktober 1939 und vom 11. Mai bis 27. Oktober 1940 in New York statt.
